TISSUE CULTURE PLANTS What is Plant Tissue Culture
Basically the technique consists of taking a piece of a plant (such as a stem tip, or node) and placing it in a sterile, (usually gel-based) nutrient medium where it grows and then is cut up and re-introduced. Why use Plant Tissue Culture Plant tissue culture is carried out under sterile conditions in the laboratory, therefore any plant material derived within these conditions should be free from pathogens and disease, and as we cannot guarantee that our field grown stock is free from disease or pathogens, we are suggesting tissue culture plants as a means of obtaining cleaner healthy stock. The tissue culture lab. we have chosen is the industry leader and is used by a number of large companies that require reliability of clean healthy stock. What do I Receive
When do I Receive my Plants By placing our order with the lab. by the end of February, we would aim to supply by Mid October. By experience, we have found the plants are not ready to be released from the lab. any earlier. This time frame is only tentative. Plants should not be planted out until the ground is warm enough to promote growth and not force plant dormancy. What Plants will be available and how much The Tissue culture lab. requires orders of fairly large numbers of each variety for it to be viable to multiply up, therefore if we don't get enough orders for a particular variety we can't go ahead with it. We are offering a number of raspberry varieties including Autumn Bliss as well as a number of bramble varieties. Please note that Loch Ness thornless blackberry will only be available as tissue culture. The cost will be $210.00/tray plus GST and any royalty charges where applicable. We will organise transport from the Tissue Culture Lab. to plant transporters, thus eliminating the need for the plants to be stored on our property. All packaging and freight costs will be meet by you, the customer. Please note as the plant transporters use major roads, there may be cases where you have to pick your plants up from your nearest major town or nearby nursery. For small orders of less than 4 trays, the plants can be posted using Australia Post. We will require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of order value to secure your Tissue Culture order. Any orders received without the deposit will not be accepted. Any customer having a problem with this, please don't hesitate to talk to us. Unfortunately we have had to introduce this policy because of late cancellations in previous years.
